In the age of globalization, the widespread use of English as a lingua franca calls for critical examination of existing paradigms of English and foreign language education. To promote discussion from diverse perspectives on these crucial issues, in 2015, the LTTC hosted an international conference on “Critical Reflections on Foreign Language Education: Globalization and Local Interventions.” This volume of selected papers presents the initiatives of researchers and educators who endeavor to develop locally appropriate teaching methodologies and test designs by enhancing the relevance of foreign language teaching and testing to learners’ needs, experiences, and cultural values. The first section examines the role of English as an international language and challenges current paradigms in language education. The second section explores several aspects of current language teaching pedagogy. The third section presents new perspectives on language testing and assessment.

語言訓練測驗中心(LTTC)於2015年舉辦了第三屆「LTTC國際學術研討會」,會議主題為《Critical Reflections on Foreign Language Education: Globalization and Local Interventions》,旨在探討在全球化情境下,英語及其他外語教育相對的角色、其隱含的文化意義,以及教學/評量設計的「在地性」考量。為能從不同的面向探討這些議題,LTTC邀請到語言學、外語教育、評量、語言政策與文化研究等領域的學者、專家、教師及研究生共同參與,分享研究心得及專業新知,共同思考在全球化的情勢下,如何規劃兼顧「在地情境」及「全球視野」的外語教育策略及教學/評量方式。

 
本書共收錄了以下10篇發表於此研討會的論文,分為Globalization and Language Education、Language Teaching Pedagogy與Language Testing and Assessment三個部分:
